JONES, George Aubrey
George Aubrey Jones was born at Fornham All Saints, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk on 5 January 1918, youngest of three brothers of Hugh Jones (1878-11 March 1933) of Red House Farm, Witnesham later the family lived at the Old Maltings, Waldringfield, Woodbridge, Suffolk, and his wife Edith Maud née Wilson (1881-2 March 1971), who married at Tynemouth, Northumberland in 1908. George was educated at Ipswich School and on leaving school was articled to stockbrokers H. C. Willis & Son and moved to the West Midlands. George married at Tonbridge, Kent in 1950, Hazel June Winstone Scott (born 1924) and by 10 April 1954 they were living at Pound Square, Woodbridge when their daughter Julia was born. A member of the Ipswich Art Club and exhibited from Newney Hall, Writtle, Chelmsford, Essex in 1980, two pictures 'Orford, Suffolk' and 'Dusmarie (ex Daisey 1884)'. George Aubrey Jones died at Ship Cottage, 15 Station Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk on 16 June 1983, aged 65 and was buried in Ramsholt All Saints' churchyard. George was the author of 'Cruise of Naromis 1939' edited by his daughter Julia.
