GOOSE, Eric Joseph
Eric Joseph Tunnard Goose was born at Bombay, India on 23 July 1923 and baptised at All Saints Church, Malabar, Bombay, second of the three sons of Wilfred Francis Goose (27 May 1889-26 June 1884), a motor engineer, and his second wife Margaret née Tunnard (2 November 1887-11 May 1950), who married at Bombay, India on the 23 February 1920, and in 1939 they were living at Shallemar, Drab's Lane, Trimley St Martin, Suffolk. Wilfred married his first wife Maud Madeline Winter (1 August 1899-) at Derby on 4 July 1914 and for a third time in 1951. Eric was educated at Woodbridge School where he was a boarder in 1939 and, in August 1945 when living at Barnoldswick, he enlisted in the Royal Air Force. He exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club in 1943, two works 'Storm from Gog Magog Hills' and 'English Irises'. In 1973 an Air Commodore in the Royal Air Force and Director of Mechanical Engineering. He again exhibited at Ipswich Art Club from 12 Old Kirton Road, Trimley St Martin, Ipswich in 1979, two pictures 'Autumn by Loch Linnhe' and 'At Kennet, Southern Turkey'. He later moved to 'The Timbers', School Road, Sudbourne, Woodbridge, Suffolk and later to Cromer, Norfolk and was still alive in 2024, aged 101. Author of 'It All Started with the First Hawker Hurricane' (2010).
