SLADEN, Olive Hilary

1916 - 1984

As Olive Hilary Felton, she was born in the United Kingdom on 9 August 1916. As a 17-year-old, Olive was an immigrant from Montevideo at Port Stanley, San Juan, Washington, U.S.A. In 1939, a probationer nurse, lodging, with two other probationer nurses, at 236 Hastings Road, Keston Mark, Bromley, Kent, the home of the Burden family. She married at Tonbridge, Kent in 1949, Francis James Sladen (16 July 1907-8 July 1971) and she painted under the name Sladen. Her husband died at 173 Connaught Avenue, Frinton-on-sea, Essex in 1971. Olive was a member of the Ipswich Art Club and exhibited from Goose Cottage, Quay Lane, Kirby-le-Soken, Essex in 1977, two pictures 'Bank of the Orwell, Pin Mill' and 'On the Banks of the Orwell' and in 1980 'Spring at Flatford', 'Early Snow' and 'Mud'. Olive Hilary Sladen died at Goose Cottage, Quay Lane, Kirby-le-Soken on 16 September 1984.
