GARLAND, Geoffrey

1917 - 1984

Geoffrey Thomas Garland was born at Colchester, Essex on 14 June 1917, son of Edward Robert Garland (1875-24 April 1933), an engineer's cost manager, and his wife Marguerite Ellen née Alborough (1879-28 August 1964), third daughter of James Alborough of Chipperfield, Hertfordshire, who married at the Congregation Church, George Street, Croydon, Surrey on 3 September 1913. In 1939, Geoffrey was an ironmongery salesman, boarding at 38 Grafton Road, Bedford. He exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from Quarry House, Norton, Bury St Edmund's in 1978 'Distant Barns, Suffolk'. He married firstly in Surrey in 1951, Margaret Purdue and had three children Teresa, Margaret, and Peter, and secondly at Hemel Hempstead in 1965, Elizabeth Phillips. Geoffrey Thomas Garland died at Quarry House, Norton on 28 September 1984.
