WALTER, Phyllida Caragh

1921 - 1998

As Phyllida Caragh Wharton, she was born at Tavistock, Devon on 24 March 1921, only daughter of Harold Edward Wharton (31 May 1887-18 September 1947), a lieut. commander in the Royal Navy, and his wife Ruby Dorothy Caragh née Moore (26 August 1892-18 November 1944), eldest daughter of Col. Arthur Moore, R.E., who married at Gibraltar Cathedral on 10 August 1918 and in 1939 were living at Horrabridge, Tavistock, Devon. They were of Binfield Lodge, Berkshire when Phyllida married at All Saints' Church, Binfield on 28 March 1942, Hugh Edmund Cunliffe Walter (29 November 1919-7 February 1993), an army officer, and she painted under the name of Phyllida Walter. She exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from Shepherd's Cottage, Blaxhall Heath, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1977, one painting 'Kyson Point, in 1980' and in 1985 exhibited 'The Deben, near Ufford'. Phyllida Caragh Walter died at Shepherd's Cottage, Blaxhall Heath, Woodbridge on 20 March 1998.
