CHAPMAN, Frances Joyce
As Frances Joyce Baines, she was born at Malew, on the Isle of Man on 25 September 1887 and baptised on 29 October 1887, daughter of Cuthbert Johnson Baines (1856-5 August 1939), and his wife Ada Cornelia née Savile (1859-11 February 1935), who married at Clifton, Bristol on 27 November 1884. In 1911, Frances was a 23-year-old, living at The Lawn, Shirehampton, Bristol with her parents, 54-year-old Cuthbert, a retired Lt. Col. and 50-year-old Ada, with two sibling sisters, Violet Sophia Mary 25, born at York and Angela Cornelia 5, born at Shirehampton. In 1939, Frances was living at the Old Manor, Frampton-on-Severn, Gloucestershire with her younger sister Angela, who was born on 10 July 1905. She married at Gloucester in 1941, James Chapman. As Mrs F. Joyce Chapman, an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1967-1971 and she exhibited from Bramford House, Ship Lane, Bramford, near Ipswich in 1967 two watercolours, 'Old Manor, Frampton, Gloucester' and 'Spring in Norfolk'. Frances Joyce Chapman died at Wesley House, Bisley, Gloucestershire on 4 October 1972.
