SMITH, Mary Emma
As Mary Emma Weatherall, she was born at Stanwell Cottage, Thorndon, Eye, Suffolk on 14 June 1909, eldest daughter of William Henry Weatherall (11 February 1876-6 March 1960), a pork butcher, and his wife Bessie née Arbon (14 May 1884-1966), who married at Eye in 1907. Mary married At Roydon Parish Church, Diss, Norfolk on 29 September 1931, Jack Norman Smith (6 January 1908-7 December 1981), a builder, carpenter & coffin maker and in 1939 they were living at 7 Victoria Crescent, Eye. As Mrs Mary E. Smith, an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1964-1974+ and exhibited from The Vinery, 42 Church Street, Eye, Suffolk in 1964, two oil paintings, 'Shells and Pebbles' and 'November Roses' and in 1965 'Eye Castle Ruins' and 'Autumn', and from 50 Church Street, Eye in 1966 an oil 'Anemones' and she last exhibited in 1970 an oil 'Winter at Eye'. Mary Emma Smith died at 50 Church Street, Eye on 29 March 1993 leaving one son John Norman Smith (born 1932).
