HOLLAND, Catherine

1887 - 1979

Catherine Holland, was born at Stepney, London on 22 September 1887, only child of William Holland (1864-1907), a solicitor's clerk, and his wife Eliza née Rigg. In 1901, a 13 year old, living at 53 Malvern Road, Cann Hall, West Ham, Essex with her parent's, 37 year old William and 40 year old Eliza but by 1911 her mother was a widow and they were living at 52 Dover Road, Manor Park, Essex when 23 year old Catherine was a shorthand typist. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1961-1972, and exhibited from Flat 4, St Andrew's House, Rushmere St Andrew, near Ipswich in 1962, a watercolour 'On a Suffolk Farm', in 1965 two watercolours 'The Fair' and 'Study of Trees' and in 1967 'Wallflowers'. Catherine died at Flat 5, St Andrews House, Rushmere St Andrew, Ipswich on 7 February 1979, she was unmarried.
