HOLLAND, Catherine
Catherine Holland was born at Stepney, London on 22 September 1887, only child of William Holland (1864-5 August 1907), a solicitor's clerk, and his wife Eliza née Rigg (1860-1928) who married at Stepney in 1886. In 1901, Catherine was a 13-year-old, living at 53 Malvern Road, Cann Hall, West Ham, Essex with her parent's, 37-year-old William and 40-year-old Eliza. Her father died at 52 Dover Road, Wanstead Park Estate, Manor Park, Essex on 5 August 1907 and where in 1911 her widowed mother was living with 23-year-old Catherine, a shorthand typist but by 1921 her mother had moved back to 53 Malvern Road, Leytonstone, Essex and which time Catherine was a Hospital Nurse. Catherine was an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1961-1972, and exhibited from Flat 4, St Andrew's House, Rushmere St Andrew, near Ipswich in 1962, a watercolour 'On a Suffolk Farm', in 1965 two watercolours 'The Fair' and 'Study of Trees' and in 1967 'Wallflowers'. Catherine Holland died at Flat 5, St Andrews House, Rushmere St Andrew, Ipswich on 7 February 1979, she was unmarried.
