Florence Winifred Gordon was born on 10 December 1894. She obtained a B.A. from the University of Leeds and was First Assistant mistress at Hunmanby County Council School, East Yorkshire 1915-1917, Second Assistant at Bromyard Grammar School 1917-1918 and Holmfirth Secondary School 1919 before taking a position as Modern Language mistress at Hampton School, Malvern, Jamaica from where on 1 August 1920, she registered with the Teachers Registration Council. In 1939, as Winifred (Florence) Gordon born 3 December 1894, a school mistress, living at 29 Sidegate Lane, Ipswich. As Miss W. Gordon, an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1959-1974+ and exhibited from 29 Sidegate Lane, Ipswich in 1958, a watercolour 'In Butley Woods', in 1959 a pastel 'Portrait Study' and in 1963 an oil 'On the Deben' and a watercolour 'On the Orwell' and in 1965 an oil 'Sutton Woods' and a watercolour 'Blythburgh Church' and was a regular exhibitor until 1969 when showing a crayon 'Roses and Campanulas' which seems to have been her last. The local directories refer to her as Miss Gordon at this address. Florence Winifred Gordon died at Ipswich on 31 January 1996, she was unmarried.
