CHAPMAN, Charles William
Charles William Chapman was born on 7 March 1908. He married at Halstead, Essex in 1934, Florence Ivy Clift (15 May 1912-1998) and in 1939, was working for the Post Office Engineering Department, living at 3 Mayder Cottages, Halstead with his wife Florence. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1957-1974 and exhibited from 25 Neale Street, Halstead, Essex in 1957, two oils 'Moot Hall, Aldeburgh' and 'Prentice Street, Lavenham' and from the same address in 1961 two oils 'Castle Hedingham, Essex' and 'Boatmen's Craft, Slaughden' and another painting the following year but was an irregular exhibitor, exhibiting three watercolours in 1972 'Trees at Hoddeston', 'Aerials at Goonhilly, Cornwall' and 'The Colne at Halstead' and from the same address in 1977 'My Ladies Hobby', 'Farm at Gosfield, Essex' and 'Caythorpe, Lincolnshire'. Charles William Chapman died at Halstead on 27 May 1996.
