As Minna Henrietta Joyce Collier, she was born at Marylebone, London on 15 February 1911, daughter of James Stansfield Collier (1870-1935), a physician, and his wife Minna Maude née Summerhayes, who married in 1906. In 1935, as 24 year old 'art student', she travelled to Gibraltar and later to Egypt. She married at Llanelly, Carmarthenshire in 1941, Anthony Kendall Millar (born 4 January 1915), a journalist & news agency proprietor, who in 1939 was living at 37 Fonnereau Road, Ipswich. As Mrs Anthony (Joy Collier) Millar, an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1944-1951 and exhibited in 1944 three oils, 'View near Manningtree', 'Portrait of Prince Gallizin' and 'Pilot of the Fleet Air Arm'. After the Second World War they seem to have lived in Shanghai where a son was born about 1950. She died in South Africa.
