PARDEY, Betty
As Betty Fisher, she was born at Margate, Kent on 11 May 1909, third child and second daughter of Ernest Hawkins Fisher (1878-7 August 1926), a tobacco retailer, and his wife Pauline née Thomson (6 June 1889-18 September 1967), who married at Steyning, Sussex in 1904. In 1911, Betty was a 1-year-old, living at 6 Broad Street, Margate, Kent with her parents, 32-year-old Ernest and 29-year-old Pauline, and two elder siblings, John 5 and Joan 4. In 1939, Pauline was a widow living at 2 Vale Drive, Worthing, Sussex with her daughter Betty, who was a waitress & counter-hand. Betty married at Worthing in 1949, William George Pardey (22 December 1901-23 February 1989), a central schoolteacher. As Mrs Betty Pardey, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1948-1950 and exhibited from The Hermitage, Ufford, Suffolk in 1948, three pictures 'Morning Sunlight', 'Studies of Nicola' and a pastel 'Portrait'. Betty Pardey died at Newton House Nursing Home, Waterford Road, Highcliffe, Christchurch, Dorset on 26 May 1995.
