SHARP, Jessie
Jessie Sharp was born at Dedham, Essex on 16 January 1871, her birth was registered in the 1st quarter of that year, daughter of George Sharp (1843-1878), a baker & farmer, and his wife Elizabeth née Mason (1841-16 September 1917), who married at Dedham in 1866. In March 1871, Jessie was a newly born, living at The Heath, Dedham with her parents, 27-year-old George and 29-year-old Elizabeth, with two siblings Edith Elizabeth 3 and Amelia Emily 1, both born at Dedham, her father died in 1878 when her mother took over the running of the grocer's and bakery shop at Heath House. In 1881 Elizabeth was a 39-year-old widow, grocer & baker, with children Amelia E. 11, Henry George 8 and William Charles 6, when Jessie was a 10-year-old pupil at a boarding school at Upper Street, Raydon, Suffolk kept by Alexander MacGovern. In 1891, mother and her three daughters, including Jessie, were all living at Heath House. In 1939 Jessie was unmarried and still living at Heath House, Dedham, Essex with a 45-year-old housekeeper. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1944-1948 and exhibited from Heath House, Dedham in 1946 an oil painting 'Penzance Harbour' and in 1947 'Dedham'. Jessie Sharp died at Heath House on 24 April 1949, she was unmarried.
