JONES, Avril Lucy
Avril Lucy Johns Jones was born at Paddington, London on 26 April 1911 and in 1939 an unmarried companion help to widow Agnes Ellen Hole (16 January 1867-5 May 1941), living at 1 Station Road, Beccles, Suffolk. An associate member of Ipswich Art Club 1943-1962 and exhibited in 1943, two works 'Original Sir John Leman School Building' and 'Marshland near Sternfield, Suffolk', in 1944 'Lane near Benhall, Saxmundham' and in 1945 from Rushbrook Hall Hospital, Bury St Edmund's, an oil painting 'A Beccles Garden'. In 1946 she exhibited from c/o Mrs Guy Manley, 'Monien', Hotson Road, Southwold, a watercolour 'Old Cottages', in 1947 an oil 'Spring Flowers', in 1949 from the same address, a watercolour 'The Green Boat', in 1953 two watercolours 'Grazing Marshes, Beccles' and 'White House Farm, Beccles' which seem to have been her last exhibits. She obviously boarded at Southwold for her painting holidays. Avril Lucy Johns Jones, a retired teacher, died at Links Cottage, Wrestwood Road, Bexhill-on-sea, East Sussex on 29 November 1996, she was unmarried.
