STANFORD, Janet Helen
As Janet Helen Young, she was born at Grantham, Lincolnshire on 11 March 1906, daughter of James Young and his wife Jane née Newby (28 September 1872-14 November 1953), who married Grimsby, Lincolnshire in 1902. Janet married at Romford, Essex in 1928, Alexander Gordon Stanford (29 November 1901-27 January 1948), an engineer, and they moved to Petronilla, Hardwick Lane, Bury St Edmund's and in 1939, she was still living at the same address with her husband, a beet factory manager, and with her widowed mother Jane Young. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1945-1955 and exhibited from Hardwick Lane, Bury St Edmund's, two paintings in 1945 'Elm Trees, Troston' and 'From my Window', in 1946 'Monsal Dale' and in 1949 a watercolour, 'Courtyard' which was her last showing at Ipswich and she also exhibited at the Bury St Edmund's Art Society at the School of Art Building, Cornhill, Bury St Edmund's in 1948. Janet Helen Stanford died at Bury St Edmund's on 10 August 1996.
