MUIR, Elizabeth
As Elizabeth Brown, she was born in Midlothian, Scotland in 1845. She married at Edinburgh on 21 June 1869, John Muir. In 1881, a 36-year-old, living at 3 Anthill Road, Tottenham, London with her 35-year-old husband John, a railway inspector also born in Scotland, with Elizabeth's 25-year-old unmarried sister Jessie L. Brown. As Mrs E. Muir, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1878-1883 and exhibited from c/o Miss King, 16 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich in 1878 'Ruins of a Roman Ampitheatre' and in 1879, 'Bois de Boulogne' and 'Cyclopean Remains-Cephalonia' and in 1880, 'Sheen Mount' and again 'Bois de Boulogne'. In 1883 still a member c/o Miss E. King, Brook Street, Ipswich but did not exhibit. In 1891 Elizabeth was still living at Anthill Road, Tottenham but in 1921 described as 'single' was a 76-year-old boarder at 8 Tenison Road, Cambridge the home of 67-year-old Elizabeth Brunton, a music teacher.
