TAYLOR, Elizabeth Rebecca
As Elizabeth Rebecca Watson, she was born at Colchester, Essex on 25 August 1930 and baptised at St Martin's Church, Colchester on 12 September 1830, daughter of Thomas Watson, a whitesmith, and his wife Rebecca. Elizabeth married at Stepney, London in 1854, Samuel Shead (1794-1868) and in 1861, was a 30-year-old married woman, a visitor at Middle Hill Road, Colchester with her children 5-year-old Emma and 7-month-old Elizabeth. As Elizabeth Rebecca Shead, a widow of The Hythe, Colchester, she married secondly at St Paul's Church, Hampstead, London on 10 October 1870, William Frederick Taylor, a railway clerk who worked at The Hythe, Colchester and in 1871, Elizabeth was a 40-year-old, living at Back Lane, Colchester with 25-year-old William, and his two step-daughters, Emma 15 and Ellen 6. About 1873 they moved to Ipswich but by 1881 they had moved on to Ravensmeer, Beccles where 36-year-old William, who was born at Holton, Suffolk, was a brewer's clerk with his 50-year-old wife Elizabeth, his stepdaughter Ellen 16, and daughter Harriet Adelaide 9, who were both born at Colchester and a son William Watson 7, who was born at Ipswich. Elizabeth was a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1875 when she exhibited from Ipswich, 'Cottages at Lavenham'. Elizabeth Rebecca Taylor died at Edmonton, London in 1885, aged 54.
