LE TALL, Mary Annie
As Mary Annie Stewart, she was born in Ireland around March 1863, daughter of James Stewart and his wife Ellen, and in 1871 James was a 37-year-old living at Railway Terrace, Usworth, Chester Le Street, Durham with his 27-year-old wife Ellen with their three children Mary Annie 8, Jane 4, and William 4, all born in Ireland. Mary Annie married at St George's Hanover Square, London in 1896, Charles McLagan Le Tall (1860-5 March 1931). In 1911, a 45 [sic] old actress, living at 251 Lavender Hill, Battersea with her 50-year-old husband Charles, an actor and theatrical manager and in 1921 they were living at 50 Altenburg Gardens, Battersea when her husband was described as a bookkeeper with engineers William Little in Chancery Lane. Charles Le Tall was also an artist, who studied from 1881 and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 24 Bridge Road West, Battersea in 1884 and 1886 and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, from Battersea 1883-1887. Mary was a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1921-1925 from an address at 32 Marlborough Road, Ipswich, the home of a Miss Sewell, but does not seem to have exhibited. Mary Annie Le Tall was of 50 Altenburg Gardens, Battersea when she died at St James Hospital, Balham, London on 16 December 1938, aged 74.
