SMITH, Sidney Herbert
Sidney Herbert Smith was born at Aston, Birmingham in 1867. In 1911, an unmarried 43-year-old artist, living at Northcote, The Avenue, Trimley St Martin, Felixstowe, Suffolk with his 79-year-old widowed mother Mary Ann Smith, who was born at Walsall, Staffordshire. He exhibited at the London Salon in 1909 and was a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1919-1922 and exhibited from Northcote, The Avenue, Trimley St Mary in 1920, 'Mountain, North Wales' and 'A Sussex Landscape'. In 1921 a 53-year-old 'artist in watercolours, black & white drawing, fully qualified by S[outh] K[ensington] Certificate', living at Northcote, The Avenue, Trimley St Mary, Suffolk with his 89-year-old mother Mary Ann Smith 'widow of a medical man' but by 1925 was of 2 Station Road, Trimley St Mary. Sidney Herbert Smith died at St Audrey's Hospital, Melton, Woodbridge, Suffolk on 6 September 1930.
