GOODY, Emma Louise
Emma Louise Goody was born at Colchester, Essex in 1871, daughter of Henry Goody (27 July 1833-1 August 1911), a solicitor & registrar, and his first wife Esther Griffin (1833-1881), fourth daughter of the late John Griffin of Camberwell, who married at Headgate Chapel, Colchester on 6 October 1857. Her mother died at Colchester in 1881, and her father married secondly on 15 August 1883, at Torre, Torquay, Devon, Mary Elizabeth Humphrey, second daughter of Joseph Humphrey of Bexley Villa, Torquay. In 1891, Emma was a 20-year-old, living at East Well House, Lexden Road, Colchester with her 54-year-old father and 44-year-old stepmother Mary, two siblings Sidney Carr 24 and Neville Clifford 18 and three stepsiblings Mervyn Henry Barnes 6, Muriel Evelyn Mary 5 and Dorothy Christine 2 and they retained five indoor servants. Emma was a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1889-1891 from Lexden Road, Colchester, but does not seem to have exhibited. In 1901, a 29-year-old, living at Barclays Bank, Rosemary Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex with her brother-in-law Henry Wetherhead, a bank manager, and his wife who was Emma's sister, Florence Elizabeth Wetherhead née Goody. Emma married at Lion Walk Church, Colchester on 22 July 1902, Richard Alliott (1870-1919), a surgeon, and in 1911 was living at 17 Ramsgate Road, Ramsgate, Kent with her 40-year-old husband and their two sons Richard and Alexander, both born at Wethersfield, Essex. Emma Louise Alliott died at 15 Hamboro Gardens, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex on 1 May 1965.
