POLLARD, James
James Pollard was baptised at Cockfield, Suffolk on 19 December 1827, son of James Pollard, a farm bailiff, and his wife Margaret. In 1851, a 23-year-old agricultural labourer, living at Henley Road, Ipswich with his parents, 50-year-old James and 48-year-old Margaret. Young James married at Ipswich in 1855, as her second husband, Sarah Maria née Darby (1827-1886) and in 1871, James was a 42-year-old printer, living at St Margaret's Green, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich with his 42-year-old wife and their three daughters Mary Ann 13, Eliza Jane 12 and Edith Beatrice 10, all Ipswich born. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1878-1879 and exhibited from Woodbridge Road, Ipswich in 1878 two pictures, 'Farm House, Monmouthshire' and 'Coast Scene, Southwold'. In 1881 they were living at 24 Wells Street, Ipswich and ten years later, James was a 63-year-old widower, hay trusser, living at Gas House, Sheepcote, Stowupland, Stowmarket, Suffolk with his 33-year-old son-in-law Robert Vinee, gas manager, and his family. James Pollard died at Bildeston, Suffolk in 1898, aged 70.
