Chrissy Norman

As Christine A. Pyman, she was born at Ipswich in 1952, daughter of Norman Eric Pyman (29 February 1920-6 November 2001 and his wife Irene née Closs (6 July 1923-20 July 2004), who married at Ipswich in 1943. She married at Cambridge in 1972, Peter D. Norman and paints under the name of Chrissy Norman. Chrissy studied printmaking at Central St Martins College of Art and Design; Suffolk College and at Gainsborough's House, Sudbury. A watercolour artist for several years, she is now best known for her etchings which reflect her passion for trees and the East Anglian coastline. Although primarily a colourist, she frequently enjoys the contrasts that black and white studies can produce. Always looking for design in nature she often revisits a familiar subject matter to capture it in a different light or season. A member of the Sudbourne Park Printmakers based at workshops near Orford and has exhibited at Mall Galleries, London; East Anglian Group of Marine Artists; Flint Gallery, Blakeney, Norfolk; Crooked House Gallery, Lavenham, Suffolk; The Red House, Aldeburgh, Suffolk; Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh, Suffolk; Smiths Row, Bury St.Edmund's, Suffolk; Addenbrookes Arts, Cambridge; Snape Maltings, Suffolk and Gainsboroughes House, Sudbury, Suffolk with some of her work being accepted for the Palace of Westminster Collection. She lived at High Road, Trimley St Mary, Felixstowe, Suffolk but exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society from 50 Beverley Road, Ipswich in 2006, two etchings 'My Favourite Oak Tree in Christchurch Park' and 'Old Chestnut in Christchurch Park'.
