LALLY, John

1949 - ?

Joseph John Lally, was born in Hampstead, London in October and studied at Camberwell School of Art, London under Euan Uglow (1932-1999) and gained a degree in Fine Art. On leaving Camberwell he worked in a stained glass studio in London for a number of years, which gave him an insight and appreciation into the commercial art world. Much of his professional life has involved working in education, teaching art in numerous establishments and in a number of different sectors including further education, secondary/middle schools and teaching art in a prison. John has designed a number of stage sets for the theatre including the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmund's, one of the oldest theatres in England. He is also the author of poetry, a number of which were published, but his main interest is painting. He married at Ipswich in 1978, Fiona A. Bowman and is an artist of Layhill Close, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk. He exhibited at South London Gallery, London in 1973; The Art Gallery, Bury St Edmunds from 1975; Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich; Blackheath Gallery, London; The Ecology Gallery, London; The Municipal Gallery, Ipswich; Chimney Mill Gallery, West Stow, Suffolk; Taplin Gallery, Woodbridge; Hayletts Gallery, Colchester; Heffers Gallery, Cambridge; Chappel Gallery, Colchester; St Johns Street Gallery, Bury St Edmund's; Halesworth Gallery, Halesworth and rrgularly at John Russell Gallery, Ipswich and in Medoc, France and elsewhere.
