KIDDY, Gretchen
As Gretchen Elizabeth Ford, she was born at Walthamstow, Essex on 2 May 1910, daughter of Ernest Henry Ford (6 January 1889-1975), a printer’s compositor, and his wife Elizabeth [Lizzie] Jane née Gukenbiehl (10 October 1887-1963), who married at Kensington, London in 1909 and in 1921 were living at 18 Lyndhurst Road, Walthamstow, Essex, Ernest 31, Elizabeth 33 and three daughters Gretchen 11, Ida 7 and Doris 4 and by 1939 her parents had moved to 36 Goldsmid Road, Tonbridge, Kent. Gretchen married at St Lawrence Church Bidborough, Tonbridge on 25 May 1935, Leonard George Kiddy (17 September 1910-23 January 1998), an accountant's clerk, from when Gretchen painted under the name of Gretchen Kiddy. In 1939 the Kiddy's were living at Gretaville, 26 Prince Edward Road, Billericay, Essex. An artist and teacher who exhibited in Suffolk and elsewhere and lived at Lodge Farm House, Boxted, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk. Gretchen Elizabeth Kiddy died at Boxted, Suffolk on 4 January 2005.
