COOPER, Stanley
Stanley Cooper was born around 1915. He taught art in the Midlands for 20 years before moving to Suffolk in 1979 where he developed his printmaking techniques, specialising in ornithological art. His keen observation of Suffolk rural life, and later the French rural life, encouraged him to produce a wide range of prints capturing the essence of these places. His technique of producing prints from a single block of lino, progressively cut away, produced results which are delicate of line and bold of colour and his intricately detailed paintings and the use a mixture of acrylic paints and airbrush techniques and his passion for colour and composition, are very apparent when gazing at his images. He also taught at secondary schools and various youth hostels. Stanley Cooper died in his sleep at Ipswich on 21 September 2011.
