TURRELL, William Herbert Ernest
William Herbert Ernest Turrell was born at Bredfield, Woodbridge, Suffolk on 29 June 1906, eldest son and second child of William Ernest Turrell (11 June 1878-26 November 1953), a corn miller, and his wife Florence née Franklin (1883-1942), who married at Melton, Woodbridge in 1902 and were later of Snape Hall Farm, Saxmundham, Suffolk. In 1911, young William was a 4-year-old, living at Bredfield with his parents, 32-year-old William and 26-year-old Florence and two siblings, Lucy Florence 7 and newly born Jack. William married in the Mutford district of Suffolk in 1930, Norah Edith Lyon (15 July 1904-12 June 1997) and in 1939, an assistant manager maltster, living at Windyridge, Broad View Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk with his wife Norah. A painter in oil and a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1960-1973 and exhibited from Brookfield, 100 Underdale Road, Shrewsbury in 1960 'The Hard, Ramsholt' and 'Coastguard Station, Sizewell', in 1961 'Southwold' and 'Barbers Cottage, Iken' and his last from this address in 1962 'Attingham'. William Herbert Ernest Turrell died at 28 Kendal Green, Felixstowe, Suffolk on 25 May 1998 and buried in All Saints’ Church burial ground, Eyke, Suffolk, where his wife had been buried the previous year.
