TRACY, Hugh Loveridge
Hugh Loveridge Tracy was born at Ipswich on 23 July 1874, eldest son and third child of Nathaniel Tracy (10 August 1828-13 April 1902), a dental surgeon, and his wife Louisa Eliza Barnes (1836-18 January 1912), only daughter of Charles Barnes, draper of Cambridge, who married at St Michael's Church, Cambridge on 9 August 1862, Nathaniel was the brother to Agnes Loveridge Tracy. In 1881, Hugh was a 6-year-old, living at The Folly, Tuddenham Road, Ipswich with his parents, 51-year-old Nathaniel and 45-year-old Louisa, with siblings, Louisa Agnes 17, Ada Helen 12 and Nathaniel 2. Hugh took up the family's profession as a dental surgeon and married at St Margaret's Westminster, London on 7 July 1910, Mary Kennedy Jordan (5 October 1882-9 November 1961), who was born at Howrah, Bengal, India and died at Ipswich. In 1911, Hugh was a 37-year-old dental surgeon, living at 9 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich with his 28-year-old wife Mary and kept three servants and in 1939 was living at 11 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1915-1916 from Lower Brook Street, Ipswich but no exhibits have been found. Hugh Loveridge Tracy was of 11 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich when he died at Brooke House Nursing Home, Henley Road, Ipswich on 8 January 1955, aged 80. Their son Hugh Wingfield Tracy, who was born at Ipswich on 27 January 1915 was a Flying Officer Navigator who was killed in Egypt on 6 October 1942 and buried in El Alamein Cemetery.
