SMITH, Sarah Knights
Sarah Knights Smith was baptised at Sloley, Norfolk on 15 December 1836, daughter of William Smith, a farm bailiff, and his wife Maria née Knights. In 1851, Sarah was a 14-year-old, living at Further Street, Sloley with her 50-year-old widowed father and two siblings Anna 26, born Tunstead and Robert 12, born Neatishead, both in Norfolk. By 1881, she and her father had both come to live at 211 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich and where her father died in 1886, aged 86. Sarah studied the Ipswich School of Science and Ar and was a prize winner in 1887. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1885-1889 from 211 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich but does not seem to have exhibited. Sarah Knights Smith died at 211 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich on 14 December 1898, aged 62, she was unmarried.
