STANTON, Ethel Sophia Martha
Ethel Sophia Martha Stanton was born at Toddington Rectory, Stroud, Gloucestershire in 1863, daughter of Revd William Darke Stanton (1828-4 April 1912) and his wife Mary Stanton (1824-), third daughter of Charles Stanton of Upfield, Stroud, who married at Stroud on 22 June 1853. In 1891, Ethel was a 27-year-old, living at Toddington Rectory with her parents, 63-year-old William and 67-year-old Mary and her two siblings, John 35, a barrister-at-law and Alice 32. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1900-1902 and exhibited from Toddington Vicarage in 1900, two watercolours 'Newquay Beach' and 'Early Morning, Newquay' she also exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in 1900 her 'Newquay Beach'. Ethel Sophia Martha Stanton was of Glatton House, Isle of Wight, Hampshire when she died at St Michaels, Ascot, Berkshire on 20 September 1931, aged 69, she was unmarried.
