STRAHAN, Fanny Evelyn Margaret
As Fanny Evelyn Margaret Roscoe, she was born at Great Boughton, Cheshire in 1851 and baptised at St John the Baptist, Chester, Cheshire on 3 February 1852, daughter of Edward Henry Roscoe (11 November 1813-19 June 1866), gentleman, of Chester, and his wife, Fanny Catherine née Parry (1826-29 October 1879), who married at St Luke's Church, Liverpool on 6 October 1846. Young Fanny married on 25 August 1886, the noted geologist [Sir] Aubrey Strahan (20 April 1852-4 March 1928), knighted in 1919, and they had one son William Roscoe Strahan (27 February 1890-22 November 1965), a solicitor. They lived at 12 Marlowes Road, Kensington, London from 1888 until her husband retired in July 1920 when they moved to Fairfield House, near Reading. As Mrs Aubrey Strahan, a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1913, when she exhibited from 61 Ashburnham Road, Bedford, six watercolours 'The Fishing Pool', 'Sunset', 'The Mill House', 'Summer on the Ouse', 'A Lover's Path' and 'Willows'. Fanny Evelyn Margaret Strahan died at Fairfield House, Goring, Oxfordshire on 8 June 1926, aged 74.
