PARKINGTON, Florence Ellen
As Florence Ellen Barratt, she was born at 145 Humberstone Road, St Margaret, Leicester on 4 August 1870, daughter of John Barratt (1838-31 October 1900), a stone carver, and his wife Sarah Ellen née Newton (1839-1925), who married at St Margaret's, Leicester on 26 April 1866. In 1891, Florence was still living at Humberstone Road with her parents, 53-year-old John and 51-year-old Sarah, with siblings Frances A. 24 and Kate N. 18. Florence married at St Peter's, Leicester on 2 April 1896, Thomas Robert Pearl Parkington. In 1901, a 30-year-old, living at 1 Bolton Lane, Ipswich with her 34-year-old husband Thomas, an ironmonger builder's contractor, and they retained one servant, and they were still there in 1911 but had moved to 7 Northgate Street, Ipswich by 1921. Florence was an honorary member of the Ipswich Art Club 1936-1957 but does not seem to have exhibited and in 1939, she was living at 7 Northgate Street, Ipswich with her husband Thomas, and they retained two servants. Florence Ellen Parkington was of 7 Northgate Street, Ipswich when she died at Otley Hall, near Ipswich on 4 January 1958, aged 87.
