PACKARD, David Edward
David Edward Packard was born at Capel St Mary, Ipswich on 16 December 1921, son of Frank Victor Packard (17 May 1887-25 November 1970), an owner occupier farmer, and his wife Mary Agnes née Ormrod (5 August 1883-27 December 1982), who married at Cockermouth, Cumberland in 1914. In 1921 David's father farmed Cross Green Farm, Capel St Mary, Ipswich, but by 1939 an owner occupier farmer at Boyton Hall in the same village, living with his wife Mary and sons Peter Ormrod (31 July 1915-27 June 1998)), who married Hilda Roff the following year, and David Edward, a student in banking. David was also a painter in watercolour and an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1946-1959, exhibiting from Boyton Hall, Capel St Mary in 1946 'Autumn Scenes, Cumberland' and 'Wissington', in 1947 'St Osyth Mill' and 'Shottisham', nothing in 1948, in 1949 'Layham' and 'The Mill House' and in 1950 'Theberton Hall' which was his last showing. David Edward Packard died at 114 Station Street, Ipswich on 28 November 1978, leaving an estate of over £300,000.
