ADAMS, Robert Henry

1859 - 1928

Robert Henry Adams was born at Worcester in December 1859, son of Thomas Adams, a draughtsman in stained glass, and his wife Maria née Maybury, who married at Worcester in 1857. In 1871, Robert was an 11-year-old living at 46 Portland Road, Kensington, London with his parents, 38-year-old Thomas, born Northumberland and 34-year-old Maria, with siblings Thomas 13 and Hubert 8, both born at Worcester with Beatrice 6, Edgar 3 and Ada 1, all born in London. Robert, who studied at Worcester School of Art, married at Kensington, London in 1880, Louisa Fanny Chandler and the following year was a 21-year-old artist, living at 9 Wemyss Road, Lewisham with his 27-year-old wife Louisa, a daily governess, but by 1887 they had moved to Suffolk and listed in Kelly’s 'Directory' of 1888 as an artist and designer of Seckford Street, Woodbridge. His stay there was short lived as in 1891, a 31-year-old designer & artist living at 17 Wharton Road, Hammersmith with his wife Louisa, born Stratford St Andrew, Suffolk and their five children, the youngest, three-year-old Natelie Beatrice was born at Woodbridge. In 1901, a designer & art master, living at 9 Wharton Road, Hammersmith and in 1911 in the same occupation living at 7 Rupert Road, Chiswick with his wife and three of his children but by 1921 had moved to 23 Fairfax Road, Bedford Park, Chiswick, London. Robert Henry Adams was of 23 Fairfax Road, Bedford Park, Chiswick when he died at the Cancer Hospital, Fulham on 22 December 1928, aged 69.
