FISON, Alice Margaret

1873 - 1957

Alice Margaret Fison was born at 1 Burlington Road, Ipswich in 1873, daughter of Edward Fison (c.1830-16 July 1908), maltster & brickmaker, and his wife Alice Stephana née Burder (1835-8 April 1899), who married at Bocking St Mary, Braintree, Essex 5 March 1863. In 1871, Edward and Alice were living at 1 Burlington Road, Ipswich with their four children, Edith Mary 6, Edward Lorimer 5, Harry Leonard 3 and newly born Fritz Ernest, all born at Ipswich. Alice, who was known as Margaret to avoid confusion with her mother, in 1881 was an 8-year-old living at Burlington Road, with her 50-year-old father and just her elder brother, 10-year-old Fritz Herbert. As Alice M. Fison, she studied at the Ipswich School of Science and Art winning prizes in 1876 for both Freehand and Model drawing. Her mother died at Ipswich in 1899, aged 64, and in 1901, Alice was a 28-year-old living, at Allington House, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich with her widowed father and three siblings and where her father died in 1908. Together with her brother, Harry Leonard Fison and sister Edith May Fison, they moved to 13 Constitution Hill, Ipswich. Listed as a member of Ipswich Art Club 1895-1915 but does not seem to have exhibited. Alice Margaret Fison died at Foley House, 28 Worcester Road, Great Malvern, Worcestershire on 10 October 1957, aged 84, she was unmarried.
