ENGLAND, Mary Agnes

1851 - 1934

Mary Agnes England, was born at North Brink, Wisbech St Peter, Cambridgeshire and baptised on 15 October 1851 and baptised again on 20 December 1855, daughter of Dr William England (1799-1871), a medical practitioner, and his second wife Margaret Elizabeth née Fraser, who married at Wisbech St Peter, Cambridgeshire in 1836, William's first wife was Helen Maria née Plunkett. The family moved to Ipswich where Mary's mother Margaret, died at 17 Henley Road in 1859. William married thirdly at Ipswich in 1864, Ann Martha Taylor of Horsford, Norfolk and William died at Lowestoft, Suffolk on 1 June 1871. In 1881 his 52 year old widow Ann was living at Tuddenham Road, Ipswich with her two step-daughters, 31 year old sisters Hannah Sophia [q.v.] and 29 year old Mary Agnes. By 1911, they had moved to St Margaret's, Priory Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk all living on private means. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1878-1879 but does not seem to have exhibited. She died at Overstrand, Constable Road, Felixstowe on 5 April 1934, aged 82, she was unmarried.
