DAMANT, Philip Stanley
Philip Stanley Damant was born at 8 Short Wyre Street, Colchester, Essex in 1885, son of Philip Damant (22 May 1855-1918), a tobacconist & photographer, and his wife Ellen Jane née Hunt (1857-26 July 1916), who married at Colchester in 1885. In 1891, young Philip was living at Short Wyre Street with his parents, 35 year old Philip and 32 year old Ellen, but by 1901 young Philip was living at 26 Mersea Road, Colchester, from where as P. S. Damant, was a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1902-1903, exhibiting in 1902 two oil paintings, 'A Summer Afternoon' and 'Still Life' and the following year an oil 'A Lane in Cheshire'. Philip Stanley Damant died at Colchester in 1908, aged 22.
