DAMAN, Henrietta

1922 - 1980

Henrietta Burges Daman, was born at Barton-upon-Irwell, Manchester on 19 July 1922, daughter of Charles Walter Burgess Daman (1893-1951), civil engineer, and his wife Muriel Edith Marion Montgomery née Moore (1896-1984), who married at Chertsey, Surrey in 1921. When young she had published in 1936 a short story 'The Haunted Snail Shell' and in 1937 a ballad 'A Small Error' and in 1942 obtained her B.A. at the Faculty of Arts at Sheffield University. In 1939, 'at school', living at Llwyn Ynn, Ruthin, Denbighshire. She was a member of the Ipswich Art Club from 1969 and exhibited from Brook Cottage, Gosbeck, Ipswich in 1979, three pictures 'On the Estate', 'Cat Asleep' and 'Cat Dreaming' and one picture the following year 'Stairs Down'. As Henrietta Burges Miller, she died at Brook Cottage, Gosbeck, Ipswich on 15 September 1980.
