CONDER, William Muskett
William Muskett Conder was born at 45 Constable Road, Ipswich on 24 January 1910, second son of the three children of Albert Josiah Conder (21 July 1873-17 December 1945), leather merchant, and his wife Helen Lenton née Green (6 June 1877-15 April 1966), who married at Ipswich on 24 June 1903. Bill, as he was known, was educated at Ipswich School and in 1927 he joined the family firm of Ipswich leather merchants, T. E. & J. Conder and in 1937, after his father had a stroke, took over the running of the business. He married at Ipswich on 22 November 1952, Ruth Waddington Conder née Bellis, daughter of artist Alan Waddington Bellis and they had three daughters. William was a painter in watercolour, both of his home county and of Co. Cork, Ireland where he had a residence near Schull. A Friend of the Ipswich Art Club from 1974 but does not seem to have exhibited. William Muskett Conder died at Ipswich on 6 March 2008, aged 98.
