BAGE, William Reginald
William Reginald Bage was born at Glasgow, Scotland on 17 February 1897, son of Albert Bage (16 April 1867-1944) and his wife Elizabeth née Starforth (1867-1921), who married at Bishop Auckland, co. Durham in 1895. In 1901, William was living at 28 Birklands Road, Shipley, Yorkshire with his parents, 33-year-old Albert, a primitive Methodist minister, and 34-year-old Elizabeth and by 1911 they had moved to The Manse, Romsey, Hampshire with the addition of an 8-year-old daughter Doris Elizabeth. William served in the army during the First World War after which his father Albert, now a congregational minister, and his family moved to Ipswich where his mother died in 1921 when his father was a minister at St Nicholas Congregational Church. In 1921 they were living at 18 Church Street, Ipswich when William was an analytical chemist working for the Ipswich company of Joseph Fison. William married at Ipswich on 3 June 1925, Evelyn Mabel Hicks (17 November 1898-1990) and went to live at 28 Bristol Road, Ipswich before moving to 105 Constable Road, Ipswich. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1933-1937, exhibiting from Constable Road in 1933 'Friend of Mine' and 'Head of an Alsatian'. In 1935 elected a Member of the Society of Public Analysts and other Analytical Chemists. William Reginald Bage died at Meadowlands, Clopton, near Woodbridge, Suffolk on 24 May 1974.
