WYNN, John

1864 - 1897

John Wynn was born at West Derby, Liverpool in 1864, son of William Wynn (1838-1890), a postman, and his wife Priscilla, who was born at Otley in Suffolk. In 1871, John was a 7-year-old, living at 21 Crown Square, West Derby with his parents, 33-year-old William and 34-year-old Priscilla with his 8-year-old sibling brother Thomas and by 1881 they had moved to 3 Ebenzer Road, West Derby when young John was a 17-year-old art student. By 1890, the family had moved to Otley, Suffolk where his father William was buried at St Mary's Church on 14 June 1890, aged 52, and in 1891 his widow was living at Chapel Lane, Otley with her 27-year-old son John, a landscape artist. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1890-1893 and exhibited from Otley in 1890 'Still Life', in 1892 another 'Still Life' and 'End of an Autumn Day' which were his last. His mother Priscilla was buried at Otley on 22 July 1895, and John Wynn died in London City in 1897, aged 32.
