TURNER, Bertha
Bertha Turner was born at St Mary Elms, Ipswich in 1855 and baptised at St Mary Elms Church, Ipswich on 8 April 1855, fourth daughter of Walton Turner (15 February 1822-4 December 1904), leather merchant, and his wife Susan Pierson (1822-July 1874), daughter of Samuel Pierson, who married at Framlingham, Suffolk on 16 April 1846. Bertha, who was a sister to Florence Bond, married at St Mary Elms church, Ipswich on 19 April 1876, Frank William Mason (1848-14 November 1927), a timber merchant and cement manufacturer, and had six children. As Bertha Turner, a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1875-1876 when of St Mary Elms, Ipswich and as Miss Bertha Turner exhibited from The Priory, Ipswich 'Winter' and as Mrs Frank Mason 1894-1899, exhibited from Northcliff, Felixstowe in 1897 'At the Ferry, Felixstowe' and in 1911 two watercolours 'Races, Connemara' and 'Derryneen, Connemara'. In 1911 they were living at Northcliff, Felixstowe where Bertha Mason died, the day after her husband, on 15 November 1927.
