1895 - 1942

As Margery Bevan, she was born at Pontefract, Yorkshire on 11 January 1895, daughter of William Charles Bevan, a plumber & tinner, and his wife Martha née Borwell, who married at Holbeck, Yorkshire in 1894 and in 1911 were living at 60 West Street, Bridlington, Yorkshire. Margery married at Bridlington, Yokrshire in 1919, Hendrik Spruytenburgh (1889-1978), a food distributor, and they moved to 'Pinetoft', Rushmere, near Ipswich. An amateur painter and a member of Ipswich Art Club 1938-1942 from 'The Ride', Little Bealings, near Ipswich but does not seem to have exhibited. In 1939, living at The Ride, Little Bealings with her husband, a manager of a food distributor. Margery was of The Ride, Little Bealings, when she at the East Suffolk & Ipswich Hospital on 28 July1942, aged 47. Their 21 year old son, Richard Frederick Spruytenburg, was drowned in 1942 when his ship HMS Airedale was sunk in the Eastern Mediterranean in the defence of Malta.
