PETTERSSON, Michael

Michael John Pettersson was born at 17 Mill Road, Cambridge in 1939, eldest of the three children of Max Leopold Robert Pettersson (15 April 1914-1995), a schoolmaster, and his wife Lillian Marie née Henry (7 March 1911-28 May 1982), who married at Cambridge in 1938. After school and art school, Michael started his career in Baker Street London as an illustrator, he later moved to Suffolk and set up his own studio. A landscape painter, notably of East Anglia and has exhibited at Haste Gallery, Ipswich with solo shows in London and has exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. One of his works was on show at the John Moore’s Liverpool Exhibition during the 1960s and in 1992 was invited to paint and exhibit at Glyndebourne for the Festival Opera Season and has worked alongside the Suffolk Wildlife Trust making maps of their reserves for the public from his studio at Stowupland, Stowmarket, Suffolk. His work is also on show at the family Pettersson Pottery gallery & workshop at Alder Carr Farm, Creeting St Mary near Ipswich.
