McGINITY, Larry

Laurence A. McGinity was born at Tunbridge Wells, Kent in 1956, son of James McGinity and his wife Eileen née Cohen, who married at Liverpool in 1940. A pupil at Priory School, Lewes until 1975 before studying politics and modern history at Manchester Metropolitan University 1975-1978. Larry worked for several publishers including 'The Guardian' and 'The Field' but in 1985 he went to Sienna, Italy as a teacher of English returning a year later when he began to paint seriously. A painter and draughtsman and after exhibiting with Margaret Fisher Gallery, Hampstead, London, had a series of solo shows in London and in 1991 at Albion Gallery, in his then hometown of Lewes. Later shows were in Germany, Switzerland, and New York. In 1992 he moved to Needham Market in Suffolk but in 1998 returned to a studio at 38 Cricketfield Road, Hackney, London. He exhibited in London in 2014 'The Financial Crisis Show'.
