McGINITY, (Larry) Laurence A

Born at Tunbridge Wells, Kent in 1956, son of James McGinity and his wife Eileen née Cohen, who married at Liverpool in 1940. A pupil at Priory School, Lewes until 1975 before studying politics and modern history at Manchester University. He worked for several publishers including 'The Guardian' and 'The Field' but in 1985 he went to Sienna, Italy as a teacher of English but returned a year later when he began to paint seriously. A painter and draughtsman and after exhibiting with Margaret Fisher Gallery, had a series of solo shows in London and in 1991 at Albion Gallery, in his then home town of Lewes. Later shows were in Germany, Switzerland and New York. He moved to Needham Market in Suffolk in 1992 but in 1998 returned to a studio at 38 Cricketfield Road, Hackney, London. He exhibited in London in 2014 'The Financial Crisis Show' - Art as a Derivative.
