Terance Bond

Terance James Bond was born at Bures St Mary, Suffolk in September 1946, son of James D. Bond and his wife Beryl E. née Reader, who married at Bures in 1944. Terance was educated at Bures Primary School and Stoke-by-Nayland Secondary School, after which he took various positions including in a drawing office in Ipswich. He married at St Augustine’s church Ipswich in May 1970, Gillian Wright. A self-taught artist but early on he had an interest in wildlife which developed into an ability to paint from nature. His first solo show was at the Haste Gallery, Great Colman Street, in Ipswich in 1971 when his twenty-five pictures were all sold, and he was included in their 40th anniversary exhibition in 1998 also exhibiting widely. In 1981 he was invited to submit work for an exhibition staged by the RSPB in London led to his paintings being used on fine art business calendars and a relationship with printers Bemrose of Derby lasting almost 30 years. His work has also featured on bone-china plates produced by Wedgwood which are sold widely in Britain, Europe, and America. Terance James Bond lived at Little Paddock, Wickerstreet Green, Kersey, Suffolk and died on 21 April 2023. The author of 'Terance James Bond Portfolio' (1992) and 'Birds: an artist's view' (1993).
