SOUTHGATE, Kevin
Kevin Southgate is a contemporary artist and works from his studio at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk. An artist having painted since childhood with a passion for the landscape which has evolved from the love of the outdoors, particularly the fells of the Lake District. Having now settled into landscape observation, his current inspiration comes from various artists such as Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851), Oscar-Claude Monet (1840-1926), the Scottish artist Joan Eardley (1921-1963) and more recently Kurt Jackson (born 1961). Kevin uses a wide variety of mixed media and techniques tending to work from small sketches taken from real life or from photographs. He has exhibited at Art Fair East and elsewhere.
