1991 - ?

Suffolk Open Studios which started in 1991, is an association of Suffolk artists who have been opening their studios to the public. From a small gathering of friends to a changing annual membership of some 130 individual artists aiming to promote the creation and appreciation of the visual arts in Suffolk. Member's own studios are open to the public for at least one weekend in June. They finish the year with an Autumn exhibition in November, which provides the opportunity to exhibit and view members' latest work. They produce a newsletter four times a year, brochures and publicity material and other exhibition opportunities. The organisation is run by artists for artists. Members' become part of a mutually supportive group which gives artists the chance to make friends and work co-operatively with like-minded people. All artists who are living or working in Suffolk are eligible to take up Suffolk Open Studios membership as well as galleries in Suffolk and all can be assured of a very warm welcome to our group. Artists gain by being members of a great network which is organised, supportive and collaborative. Galleries form an integral part of the Open Studios network and benefit from the directory publicity as well as interaction with many artists.
