As Sybil Maud Steward, she was born in Inverness, Scotland on 5 May 1895, only daughter of John Charles Stewart of Kinloch Moidart, Glenfinnan, Invernessshire, Scotland. Sybil married in Edinburgh on 14 April 1914, Lieut Kenneth Forbes Meiklejohn (18 June 1885-25 September 1914), who was killed in action during the Great War at the Battle of the Aisne in 1914, and they had a posthumous son born in January 1915, Kenneth Mathew Meiklejohn, who died in 1988. Sybil Meiklejohn remarried at Christchurch, Duns in Scotland on 24 May 1916, Captain Lancelot Coulson Pitman (18 August 1884-26 May 1964), Royal Engineers, from Christchurch, New Zealand and they had a son, Leslie Colin Pitman, born at Kinlochmoidart in 1917 who died in March 1943. Sybil and Lancelot divorced, and Sybil married thirdly at Ipswich in 1934, Julian Basil Charlesworth (4 April 1899-20 June 1977) and Lancelot remarried at Chelsea in 1937, Clare McMahon. In 1939, Sybil was a trained artist, living at Church Farm, Leiston, Suffolk with her husband Julian, a landowner. Sybil Maud Charlesworth died at Abbots Lodge, Sibton, Saxmundham, Suffolk on 30 September 1971 and her husband died at the same address in 1977, when he left an estate of over 400,000.
