As Rita D. Lee, she married in Co. Durham in 1961, Thomas D. L. Browne and paints under the name of Rita Browne. In 1971, they moved from Stockton-on-Tees to Ipswich and in 1973 to 18 Days Green, Capel St Mary, just outside the town. Whilst bringing up the family, working both part-time and later full-time, she attended various drawing and painting classes and in 1988 enrolled at East Bergholt Adult Centre, joining Michael Norman's Drawing and Watercolour Class and the following year invited to continue learning with Michael Norman, as a member of a small group, at his studio at Woolverstone, Ipswich. Rita uses watercolour, charcoal and pen & ink in studies of ruined buildings and delicate tree and plant forms and is a member of the Suffolk Art Society. In 2007, Rita also became a member of the Ipswich Art Society where she regularly exhibits also showing with The Society of East Anglian Watercolourists' and in 2014 was an award winner; also exhibiting at the Royal Watercolour Society Friends in East Anglia, Anstey Hall, Trumpington, Cambridge; Angel Gallery, Lavenham; Halesworth Gallery, Steeple End, Halesworth, with solo exhibitions at Frame Workshop and Gallery, Ipswich.
