BLAKISTON, Mildred Florence

1891 - 1985

As Mildred Florence Pearson, she was born in Australia on 2 September 1891, only child of Mr & Mrs Pearson of Golbourne House, Leamington. In 1911, a 19 year old on a visit to her uncle, George Montynm Brown-Westhead, a barrister, and his family at Lea Castle, Wolverly, Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Mildred married at Warwick on 1 February 1917, Revd Bernard Robert Blakiston (1876-1933), from when she painted under the name of Mildred Blakiston, but they were divorced on 28 March 1927, and Bernard died at 19 Lansdown Crescent, Bath on 10 November 1933. In 1939, an artist painter, living at Bobbit's Hall, Holton St Mary, Suffolk with a domestic servant. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1942-1947 but exhibited from Holton St Mary in 1941, four works 'Autumn Views', 'Hadleigh, Suffolk', 'Cherry Orchard' and 'Magnolias', in 1942 'Wild Flowers', 'Salvias' and 'Benton End, Hadleigh', in 1944 four oils 'Garden at Hadleigh', 'Flowers and Fruit', 'Roses' and 'The Hen Run'. She died at Mill House, Boxford, Suffolk on 25 July 1985.
